Butterfly Effect landscaping and design is run by me, Mika

I’ve been landscaping and farming in the seattle area for 5 years, before that I was living in Portland, OR. I am excited about native and co-adaptive planting, regenerative practices, creating pathways and fostering resilient ecosystems. “Butterfly Effect” comes from a childhood fascination and long-standing belief that how we do one thing is how we do anything, and everything we do can have compounding effects.

I believe this is especially true for your garden — a place right outside your door you can turn to for moments of peace, aesthetic enjoyment or garden veggies. As part of a bigger picture, every residential parcel has the potential to be stewarded as a pocket of the natural world. We may not be able to amend the entire world, but one garden at a time we can support pollinators, plant rain water and build healthy soil and in so doing, foster harmony in our respective corners of it.

Client Testimonials:

“Mika has come to work in our yard and gardens three times now. She helps prune, transplant, weed, mulch, advise, and haul stuff away. She is delightfully willing, able, and hard-working.”

“I hired Mika to help me excavate and build a gym/patio under my deck. Mika showed up ready to work, and created a lot more usable outdoor space for me. My basement has also stopped flooding. We moved many tons of soil, sand, and gravel across my yard and to/from trucks in the summer heat and laid a lot of pavers.  If you’re looking for help with planning and executing your hardscaping dreams, with great attention to detail, and an enormous work ethic, call Mika!”
